We have an immediate opening for a Continuous Improvement Leader at our
Etobicoke facility.

This individual will lead the implementation of our Apogee Lean Enterprise initiatives

across the Organization. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience and

a record of quantifiable achievement serving as a Lean transformational leader in a

manufacturing environment. The position requires both strong Lean technical expertise

as well as outstanding interpersonal skills to achieve continuous improvement

objectives within each functional group of the organization. The candidate influences

the culture of change and continuous improvement within the organization through

personal influence and respect rather than positional authority.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Provide leadership, training, and mentoring across the Organization regarding
the proper application of Apogee Lean Enterprise principles. 

Drive the cultural change and discipline necessary to create and sustain a
successful continuous improvement culture. 

Partner with business leadership in all functional groups to assess current
processes and identify process improvement opportunities. 

Manage a robust process for selecting, scoping, and completing Lean initiatives. 

Plan and assist in the execution of 8-Step Problem Solving and Kaizen events
which deliver significant and quantifiable process improvements. 

Develop and support effective communication methods to help employees learn,
understand, adjust, and grow with the Organization’s Lean Enterprise
transformation. 

Manage the Lean Scorecard and implementation action plan across the


Requirements/Qualifications: 

Stable work history with a minimum of 5+ years’ professional experience in
manufacturing preferably as an Industrial Engineer. 

Minimum 2 years of experience leading a Lean Implementation in a single large
plant or multi-plant environment. 

Formal Lean training and extensive experience starting at the Value Stream level
using Kaizen and 8-Step Problem Solving methodologies, and other key Lean
techniques. 

Experience implementing Lean in an engineer-to-order manufacturing
environment would be a distinguishable plus.

Personal Attributes and Characteristics: 

Exceptional vision, high energy level, a bias for action, and a passion for
excellence. 

Ability to overcome resistance to change by demonstrating the tangible benefits
of Lean techniques and disciplines. 

Ability to direct and motivate team members at all levels of the organization
through the use of effective communication and presentation skills. 

Ability to provide results oriented leadership to technical groups & cross-
functional teams while maintaining the trust and confidence of management and
team members. 

Proven ability in strategy development, program implementation, team building,
mentoring, planning and budgeting. 

Strong analytical skills and process focus.

Educational Requirements: 

Engineering Degree preferably Industrial Engineering 

Third party Lean certification, or experience in a recognized world class Lean
environment would be a plus.

Working Conditions 

Travel in role 30-40% 

Ability to attend and conduct meetings and/or presentations in large groups 

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals 

Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required in the plant (e.g. safety
shoes, protective eyewear hearing protection, etc.) 

Overtime as required
