The Senior Program Officer will have responsibility for all internal and corporate communications, and will have senior leadership accountability for the Connect Care initiative - a large-scale project designed to link patients, healthcare teams and information across the province, through a common provincial clinical information system. The Senior Program Officer will foster a high quality workplace with strong commitment to team-building and best practice performance across these areas. The Senior Program Officer, Corporate Communications will oversee the Director of Internal Communications; this individual and their staff are responsible for overall internal communications planning and strategy, and provides communications support for the People, Legal & Privacy portfolio, and supports Corporate Services program areas such as IT, Finance, and Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management. The Senior Program Officer will also oversee the Director Communications and Engagement, Physicians and Health Professions; this individual and their team are responsible for developing and implementing complex provincial communications and engagement activities pertaining to the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Affairs and physician engagement for the province. This Director is also responsible for leading communications and engagement activities related to Connect Care. AHS has multiple internal stakeholders. This position requires an ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships across, the entire organization - from front-line healthcare workers, to administrators and senior executive leaders. There is a high volume of work requiring experience, judgement, decision-making under pressure and ability to manage multiple expectations, projects and deadlines.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in communications and strategic planning, including demonstrated leadership at the senior management level. Evidence of creative thinking and an ability to foster teamwork are essential. Exceptional writing and editing skills. A track record of working with other leaders, including senior management, to achieve broad strategic objectives. Experience in the ability to recognize and mitigate risks, seek areas of improvement or opportunity while managing the current priorities. Strong personal communication skills are imperative. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Evidence of ability to build and maintain best practice teams, including performance development, mentorship and performance accountability. Evidence of values based leadership approach and commitment to excellence. Experience in managing and tracking operating budgets and the appropriate allocation of resources.
