Job Description

Key areas or responsibility include: Strategic Planning: Develops project plans, structures, processes and evaluation frameworks. Responsibility for the oversight, coordination, planning and execution of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS). Leadership: Provides leadership through effective communication, collaborative practice, ethical decision making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives; in supporting the development of innovative and strategic approaches; in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of province wide initiatives. Provides leadership to teams that include senior representatives of other AHS departments, government ministries and community agencies and stakeholder groups. Relationship and People Management: Provides leadership to teams consisting of diverse AHS staff from many portfolios as well as representatives of government ministries, contracted partners, community agencies and members of the public as appropriate. Provides expertise, leadership and knowledge brokering as a member on several committees with internal and external stakeholders. Identifies key stakeholders and engages them in teams to support strategic planning and implementation. Project Management and Change Management: Proficient in Project Management protocols and processes in collaboration with the Project Support Services team. Engages internal and external stakeholders in the change process, understands the impact on clients, families and staff and assesses and communicates risks and benefits accordingly. Using specialized knowledge and expertise in project management and change management, initiates, implements and supports new or modified approaches, practices and processes. Develops educational strategies and programs to ensure sustainability of major changes.

Required Qualifications:

A Graduate or Master’s degree in a health discipline, health care management and/or business administration. A minimum of 5 years of progressive diverse health care leadership experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Formal training /certification in project management, change management and quality improvement (for example PROSCI, Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt). Experience in reporting, monitoring and evaluation of projects.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Achievement in developing and implementing new initiatives and recommending new strategies and solutions at a provincial level. Demonstrated ability to foster and support Quality improvement initiatives. Progressive leadership experience in a clear pattern of professional and personal development. Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project and program management. Ability to create effective partnerships, work collaboratively and achieve system goals. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation and build solid relationships with public and private agencies, government, committees and contracted partners. Knowledge and demonstrated application of business planning, modeling concepts and project management theories, principles and practices. Ability to use strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals, assess options and implications. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability with decision making responsibilities, coaching and mentoring, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to initiate and manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Extensive experience in stakeholder management, building effective business relationships.
