Manager - Senior's Heath At Alberta Health Services

Location: Mclennan, Alberta

Job Description

This position reports to the Area 6 Director of Clinical Operations, North Zone on all aspects of related health services with the assigned geographical area. The Area Manager is responsible to provide support in the communities of High Prairie, McLennan and Slave Lake. This position is responsible and accountable for the leading and implementation of Senior’s Health Services within these defined geographical areas of the North Zone, in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The Area Manager will establish and maintain positive and strong working relationships with key stakeholders and partners.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession. Active registration with an appropriate regulatory body. A minimum of 3-5 years in a management role preferably related to the delivery of Senior’s Health Services, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies: Working knowledge of the health care system is required. The successful candidate should be familiar with provincial legislation regarding Home Care, Supportive Living and Long Term Care. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results.


Preferred Qualifications:

Acceptable driver's abstact and proof of business insurance. Experience in both Home Care and Long Term Care preferred. Acute Care experience would be an asset. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other stakeholders.
