The EMS Operations Manager is a key leadership role in EMS Edmonton Zone and reports to the Director of EMS Operations. This position coordinates and provides leadership in the daily operation and delivery of EMS Operations in the Edmonton Zone in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. This will also include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. In this position you will be accountable for providing direction, team leadership, planning, implementing, evaluating and contributing to the achievement of the goals of EMS Operations in the Edmonton Zone. Additional Responsibilities: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including other health professionals, business stakeholders and the community. Direct leadership of EMS Operations including human resource processes (performance and ability management in accordance with AHS policies and Collective agreement). Ability to manage human, fiscal and physical resources within EMS operational budget. Contributes to the development of strategic plans and the establishment of priorities that aligns with AHS EMS organizational goals. Development of performance measures and the coordination of continuous quality improvements in service delivery.
A minimum requirement; Graduate of an Alberta College of Paramedics ( ACP) approved program and registered with The Alberta College of Paramedics, and a member in good standing. A Minimum of 5 years in an Emergency Services in a leadership role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience working in a unionized environment and applying Collective Agreements (i.e. HSAA and AUPE) A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. An undergraduate or graduate degree in management, health care administration, business or leadership. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills and client-focused orientation with commitment to providing quality services. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals. Experience managing budgets and strategies related to operational expenditures.
Training in Workplace Health and Safety preferred. Human resource management training and experience preferred.
