As a Laboratory Scientist I, you will perform work involving laboratory processes including research and development, test method implementation and change, routine testing as well as clinical trials. In addition, you will collect background information including literature reviews, analyze data, and prepare research proposals and summary reports.
Completion of Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Medical Laboratory Science.Additional Required Qualifications:
CMLTA registration and a MLT practice permit required. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory required. Previous experience in the above listed skills/responsibilities, including validation and implementation of Hematology or Coagulation test methods or equipment, is required. Current experience in Hematology and/or Coagulation testing is required. Knowledge of pre-analytical testing processes, laboratory safety procedures, test method/process evaluation, equipment evaluation, literature review, quality control, proficiency testing review/documentation, and document writing is required. Proficiency with windows-based computer applications (ex. Microsoft Office, database/spreadsheet applications) is required. Clear understanding and experience with use of statistical calculations is required. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and within a team environment. The individual must be an organized, independent worker, and a strong team player committed to providing quality patient care.Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a laboratory scientist role is an asset. Recent experience with Sunquest, SoftTech, and Traccess is preferred.
