IT Analyst II - Application Support/Developer Analyst At Alberta Health Services

Job Description

As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions. You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolves complex technical problems, finds solutions to customer needs, and leads projects and program initiatives. You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate diagnoses and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor. You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The ability to understand an existing code base in order to analyze its behaviour and make fixes or enhancements to it. Designing software with the awareness of the software development life cycle, knowing how to use libraries and frameworks. The ability to analyze the behaviour of code to diagnose a problem and find the underlying cause. This includes but is not limited to using a debugger. Understands software configuration management by using version control tools. Supports applications, operations and/or Information Technology services by providing business management or technical consultation relating to the business area. Perform routine application maintenance and resolve application issues. Monitor and assess (through discussions with clients and other IT staff) requests for changes to system configuration, interface programs, assigned application(s) and changes to downstream applications. Plan, develop and implement changes such as version upgrades or enhancements. The impact of changes must be assessed carefully to fully understand the impact to data, display, functionality, reporting, statistics and business functionality. Update and maintain application documentation. Perform business analysis and liaise with clients in the resolution of issues regarding the application(s). Collaborate on problem investigations designed to identify root cause and recommend solutions. At least 4 years’ experience with SQL and either .NET web development or Oracle Apex.

Preferred Qualifications:

ITIL Foundation Certification is an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities. Experience with some of the following: Oracle PL/SQL, T-SQL, Oracle Forms and Reports, Microsoft Access, Object Oriented Programming, n-Tier framework, IIS, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Xcode.
