As a Diagnostic Sonographer II, you will coordinate the daily operations of the service area. This includes organizing and coordinating all technical and daily work activities for your team of Diagnostic Sonographer Is and other health care providers, ensuring that ultrasound services are available and operating at an optimum level. In addition, you will handle patient and staff complaints and problems related to services, maintain quality assurance and quality control programs for the area, assist in research, development, maintenance and evaluation of Sonography programs and services and assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or Completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program plus a diploma in a related field (Medical Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy) or a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field (e.g. Kinesiology). Active or eligible for registration with the Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:
Registration with the Canadian Association of Registered Medical Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) Min 5 years ultrasound experience Specific Accountabilities: Participate fully in the performance of patient examinations as prescribed by physicians. Perform technical functions in the ultrasound area. Ensure proper process is followed in the performance of the requested service and the testing is accurate and valid. Supervisory functions including scheduling of staff, performance appraisals and ongoing assessments of staff. Troubleshoot equipment problems in conjunction with service engineers. Ensure proper Quality Control testing is performed to accepted standards and is properly documented. Act as a resource and provide technical expertise and information to staff within the regional service and to a variety of health care providers.Preferred Qualifications:
America Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) preferred. Completed courses in Management and/or Leadership. Computer literacy and training.
