Air Canada’s Customer Digital Enablement team is building a fast-moving Mobile development team to build engaging Mobile applications. This is a great opportunity for a results-oriented software developer to lead our development team and help define the development process. The candidate should be self-driven, highly motivated, innovative and ready to lead and support our agile development teams on projects. This role will be responsible for leading the software team to develop Mobile applications. Responsible for coding, debugging and creating test scripts for applications across a range of Mobile platforms. Will lead our developers to produce scalable, fast and robust solutions.
  • Work closely with management to establish, grow, and lead our software development team.
  • Manage all cycles of development: Manage the full software development lifecycle, including planning, architecture, implementation, QA, and operations. Work to continuously improve software development processes.
  • Big picture, long-term strategy: Participate in business planning, product roadmaps, and business strategy discussions. Collaborate with management and stakeholders to define priorities for features and releases.
  • Define and enforce technical standards for quality, maintainability, scalability, availability, and security.
  • Assist in the collection and documentation of requirements and user stories.
  • Develop scalable, high performance, and robust Mobile solutions.
  • Package and support deployment of releases.
  • Develop, refine, and tune applications.
  • Define and adhere to mobile standards and best practices.
  • Analyzing and resolving technical and applications issues.
  • Prepare reports, manual, and documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of software.
  • Implement new features and optimize existing ones to drive maximum performance.
  • Team development. Build and lead development team, apply development methodologies appropriate to the project, and ensure all team members are working together efficiently and without friction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5+ years in software development
  • Experience with modern programming languages and libraries (C#, Objective C, Swift, PHP, Node.js, Python, Java, .NET, Kotlin).
  • Real-world experience with mission-critical enterprise REST APIs (either as consumer or producer)
  • Experience with cross platform development using PAAS cloud systems.
  • Experience with Web-related technologies including HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
  • Database / Data Storage experience (SQL / MySQL).
  • Experience with noSQL solutions (Couchbase, MongoDB)
  • Strong skills and proven experience in full-stack software development, including design, implementation, and testing
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects, clearly communicate status of projects to executive teams, and manage and triage many competing demands and priorities
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results oriented and deadline driven.
  • Experience working on highly effective Scrum Scaled Agile team is an asset.
  • Knowledge of mobile architecture, trends and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge of mobile performance profiling tools and optimization techniques
  • Cross platform development (Xamarin, Cordova, Phone Gap, React native)
  • Azure / AWS / BlueMix
  • CD/CI (Continuous deployment / continuous integration)
  • Graphics engines (Unity, DirectX)
  • Design experience (Sketch, InVision, Photoshop illustrator)
  • Familiarity with Github,JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins
