MxU Installer At AFL

Location: Surrey, British Columbia

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Field Service Manager, the MxU New Growth Technician is responsible for installing, repairing and investigating voice and data services (phone lines, internet, TV) for business and residential customers located at new construction locations. The MxU New Growth Technician will be expected to use ingenuity and perseverance to install any and all services in field conditions that are challenging and are often under tight deadlines. Tact, diplomacy and a dedication to getting the job done under pressure and in less than optimal conditions are a large part of the job.


The incumbent is responsible to deliver first class customer service, be committed to safety and provide quality work in all situations as an ambassador for AFL’s New Growth Market (NGM) program.


Responsibilities

  • Pr
    ovide unparalleled customer service excellence to ensure customers’ expectations are met and service requirements are fulfilled;
  • Install residential and business Copper and Fiber voice and data services and applications at new construction locations including site trailers. Other installation and repair functions as assigned;
  • Trace and locate appropriate telecommunications links to use in daily work at various locations;
  • Communicate with high level customer contacts including site superintendents, site safety officers and developer project managers on details including routing, safety, specifications and first level troubleshooting;
  • Liaise with client’s business channel managers to ensure services are installed according to customer deadlines;
  • Operate equipment and vehicle in a safe manner;
  • Ensure vehicle and test equipment are maintained in excellent working condition;
  • Troubleshoot technical issues swiftly and accurately;
  • Install services in a neat and professional manner that can be showcased as value add to the client;
  • Work indoors and outdoors on customer locations. Provide customers and AFL management job status updates on a daily and weekly basis via verbal communications, email, as well as updating spreadsheets;
  • Responsible for Admin Tasks, including: preparing time and expense reports (daily), clearing jobs in Field Link (daily), monitoring kilometers for Company vehicle (monthly), and other duties as required;
  • Help build and maintain positive relations within the team;
  • Protect organizations’ values by keeping information confidential;
  • Perform other administrative and miscellaneous duties as requested, directed or assigned;
  • Enhance organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment; and

  • Fluent in English (reading, writing and conversational)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
