The Project Engineer is responsible for producing various deliverables and providing technical support in the interest of maintaining compliance to project technical standards. The Project Engineer must understand the technical aspects of project (to the extent of their assignment) and provide the required guidance to project functions to achieve success. There will be a heavy onus on the Project Engineer to fully understand and utilize applicable Technical Specifications, plant design, technical procedures, Engineered Tooling, mock-up and training requirements, and utilize said knowledge to support the project from a technical standpoint. Key Responsibilities
- Produce technical project deliverables, including but not limited to, execution work packages, tooling operating procedures, tooling/system troubleshooting and maintenance procedures, technical assessments, training procedures, Installation and Test Plans (ITPs), tooling testing procedures, disposition reports (e.g. for remedial work related to non-conformance reports), and technical project plans.
Provide support, as necessary, to project groups (training, trades supervisors, trades, etc.) whether in written form or active participation/direct intervention
- Be knowledgeable on and support implementation of and compliance with client Engineering Change Control (ECC) procedures
- Assist the Project Manager/Area Manager:
- Generation of required status reports
Active and effective participation in overall project planning activities
- Staffing requirements
- Schedule and cost management/compliance
- Client interface
- Management of schedule and cost.
Client interface (technical and non-technical).
Detailed review of design packages and provision of direct input/direction to ensure overall compliance with design and installation based on requirements
- Constructability planning throughout the design process.
Interface between various project groups.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Relevant Engineering Degree from an accredited university or college
Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing.
5-10 years engineering and construction project experience
Experience with and understanding of Engineered tools/equipment, automated systems, remote tooling systems,
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in CANDU fuel channel and/or feeder replacement processes and tooling
- HIGH drive and demonstrated ability to solve problems, including all facets of solution development and implementation: problem identification, planning, detailed solution generation, review and approval, generation of procedures, training, oversight and making sure the plan is successful.
EPC and/or EPCM project knowledge and experience
- Understanding of the Engineering Change Process
Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexibility to work in both field and office
