Materials Coordinator - Process Improvement Specialist (Contract) At Aecon Group

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

Job Description

The Materials Coordinator - Process Improvement Specialist will rewrite and revise processes and procedures for materials procurement, management, inventory and control to maximize efficiency for the field. These processes must work for free-issued materials, materials procured by JV partners and for self-procured items. This position also involves development of comprehensive training for all personnel involved in materials management from procurement to install. The process improvement specialist – materials reports directly to the Nuclear Process Director. Key Responsibilities
  • Revise and re-write procedures as necessary to maximize efficiency of the materials management process and address any current gaps in the program
  • Work with Bedrock team to ensure SAP tools allow for reports etc. necessary to manage materials or develop alternate tools that utilize current bedrock information to allow for simplified materials management processes
  • Develop comprehensive training that can be used to onboard all personnel involved in materials management from requisition stage to receiving to inventory control to installation.
  • Coordinate with corporate functions including Aecon University and IS teams to establish electronic tools for tracking and maintaining training records and for any other software interfaces as required (barcoding tools or other, etc.)
  • Educate and train operations and support service staff assigned to projects on materials management and other key work procedures
  • Work with Quality to create a ‘user friendly’ process
  • Measure effectiveness of improvements through objective metrics.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders on all nuclear projects, acting as a home office support system for process improvements and training gaps identified by projects
  • Work in cooperation with the Darlington and Bruce Power project teams to revise and re-write procedures (as required) to streamline materials management in the field
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Minimum 5 years experience in construction project execution with focus on materials management processes
  • Familiarity with SAP and experience with current Bedrock materials reports a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to map processes and write procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Experience working with Bruce Power or OPG a plus
