Achiga is looking for a Systems Administrator to oversee the operations of our internal IT and external systems as well as our development workflow. This role requires collaborating with many stakeholders and designing efficient solutions with a focus on business outcomes. You are expected to promote and implement automation tools across all our operations.

What You'll Do

INTERNAL (INFRASTRUCTURE)

  • Provide assistance to the Support Engineer on infrastructure issues
  • Coordinate with the Support Engineer in the selection and implementation of new equipment

INTERNAL (DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT)

  • Responsible for maintaining our in-house development environment, encompassing regular ESX, Linux and Windows system administrative tasks
  • Research and develop or implement tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our development workflow
  • Responsible for maintaining operating environments across our servers, based on client requirements and best practices
  • Develop and maintain documentation relating to the development environment

EXTERNAL (PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT)

  • Ensure production servers are running smoothly and efficiently, notifying Team Leads when appropriate
  • Responsible for maintaining high performance scalable operating environments across our servers, based on client requirements and best practices
  • Research, document and implement best practices and methods in order to improve performance and reliability
  • Liaise with our service provider to coordinate on server events (issue resolution, reconfigurations, etc.)

Who You Are

  • University or College degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in systems administration
  • AWS Associate/Professional SysOps/DevOps Administrator or Solutions Architect certified would be highly desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux, Windows System Administration, and AWS (storage, database, compute, developer tools)
  • Good understanding of all components relating to web development and deployment (Hosting, DNS, FTP, firewalls, SSL, DBA, Security best practices)
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Functional knowledge of development technologies including: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Exceptional research and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work effectively both independently and on a team
  • Able to identify and/or spearhead progressive initiatives
  • Detail oriented
