Localization Manager At Achievers

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Manages localization projects from beginning to end, working closely with language specialists, localization engineers, terminologists, product management and development, internal business partners and external vendors and other departments.
  • Ensure deliveries meet deadlines, are on budget, and meet release quality criteria.
  • Creates and controls localization project budgets, performs cost tracking. analysis, ensures timely issuance of purchase orders and invoices and approves work reports.
  • Identifies and solves localization issues or disagreements, whether system or product, identifies causes and performs corrective/preventative action.
  • Works with our Customer Service department to create and maintain an overall roadmap of languages to add to our platform.
  • Manages linguistic assets and works closely with our Technical Writer to define Achievers specific terminology.
  • Uses and manages localization software, such as Crowdin and MemoQ.
  • Leads meetings and conference calls, including project kick-off meetings, with third-party translation vendor, delivering product training to translators when needed. Have weekly and ad-hoc status meetings with third-party translation vendor.
  • Continually expands knowledge and education in localization trends and news, keeping up to date through active participation in training opportunities.

Qualifications:


Education and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree, or higher (localization, business, computer science, linguistics, or with equivalent experience).
  • Solid in-depth knowledge of internationalization and localization
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience directly related to project management (preferably in the localization industry) or masters degree preferred
  • Fluency in a non-English language


Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Proven abilities in project planning, resource and risk management
  • Experience in independently managing localization of various collateral: software, eLearning, marketing, and sales.
  • Problem-solving capabilities
  • Able to focus on process improvements by documenting localization best practices
  • Able to effectively train others
  • Quality and detail-oriented
  • Self-starter and pro-active with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and Interest in continuing to learn and identify new technologies and new tools
