The Opportunity

Acadia seeks an Administrative Assistant in Student Health Services for a full-time 8-month sessional position.

The incumbent will be responsible to:

  • greet clients as they arrive at the Clinic, informing them of procedures, programs and services
  • provide administrative support to Health Services staff including the Medical Director and Physicians
  • book and record specialist and test appointments with other health agencies and professionals
  • administer medical filing system of charts, blood work and reports
  • maintain statistical records and produce reports as required
  • organize and maintain departmental files and inventory of office supplies
  • deliver, sort and distribute departmental mail each day
  • participate in departmental planning and training programs

The Candidate

We are seeking a candidate who has proven experience delivering a high level of client service and demonstrated ability to think and communicate clearly.

Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant program with related work experience preferred. AMSPAR (Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Manager, Administrators and Receptionists) qualifications an asset, but not required.

Demonstrated ability to work to a high level of accuracy, maintain confidentiality, and be flexible to regularly changing priorities is necessary.

Applicants must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with database management is necessary. Experience working with Practimax or other EMR system preferred.

Familiarity with Acadia's campus and administrative procedures would be an asset.

The Rewards

Acadia offers a comprehensive benefit package in addition to a starting salary based on the full-time gross per annum rate of $29,490 (SEIU 1). Salary rate increases to $32,869 following successful completion of 6-month probation period. (Annual salary rates based on a 35 hour per week schedule, and will be prorated for the 8-month sessional term.)
